Overview

The Brinc and Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) Food Technology Program has been designed for Singapore-based food technology startups looking to commercialise and launch in mainland China. Delivered as part of the Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) initiative, the program provides tools, expertise, and access to relevant commercial networks necessary for businesses to succeed in their expansion efforts within the region.

The Food Technology Program acts as a launchpad for businesses, offering insight into local consumer behavior, taste preferences, and sensory expectations to enable the development of key strategic plans for their business growth. Participants will be able to leverage Brinc and Enterprise SG’s extensive networks in the food technology industry, meeting potential commercial partners including mainland China-based food brands, hospitality groups, restaurants, and grocery stores. The program will also cover core educational topics including go-to-market and commercialization best practices in the context of mainland China, with a particular focus on importability, regulation, pricing, market sizing, and customer discovery.

This program is designed for Singapore-based commercially-ready food technology startups with defensible technology or differentiated solutions in the following areas:

  • Plant-based meat or dairy
  • Novel ingredients
  • Nutraceuticals / food as medicine
  • Food safety / shelf life stability solutions
  • Sustainable packaging

What to expect

Our Offer

Investment Ticket: SG$267,000

  • Duration: 10 – 12 weeks
  • Program Fee: S$10,000
  • Mode of participation: Virtual – with the option for startups to work out of Brinc’s Shanghai office after the program
  • Intake size: Strictly limited to two-to-three participants per intake
  • Schedule: Participants will be accepted on a rolling basis between June 2023 and May 2024

NOTE: This is a non-investment program; participants will not have to provide equity

Startup Eligibility

  1. Participants must be incorporated in Singapore with at least 30% local shareholding
  2. Participants must have market-ready products and services
  3. Participants must have completed taste tests and trials
  4. Participants must have existing commercial traction and should be generating revenue
  5. Participants should be looking to enter the mainland China market within the next 12 months
