    • Working with Brinc, Prenetics will partner with startups to advance innovations and explore new opportunities in Web3 medical and healthcare applications

Brinc, a Hong Kong-based venture accelerator, and Animoca Brands, the company advancing digital property rights for gaming and the open metaverse, announced today the launch of their new MedTech & Healthcare accelerator, with the debut cohort commencing in April 2023.

Successful applicants will receive an investment of up to US$250,000, relevant networking opportunities, and mentoring from Prenetics and OliveX representatives as well as from other leaders in business, medtech, and healthcare. Startups will also be trained to pitch to an audience of sponsors, industry leaders, and investors at the program’s highlight event, the Demo Day.

Prenetics, a leading genetics and diagnostic health-testing company, will work with Brinc to develop health startup innovation, business models, and disruptive ideas in the Web3 space. Prenetics, OliveX, and other partners will lead mentoring for the new accelerator, sharing insights about the industry, Web3, business development, and other areas integral to startup success.

Manav Gupta, founder and CEO of Brinc, said: “Web3’s true potential has yet to be fully realized in the health and medical space, where creating trust, unlocking data and bridging incentives are essential. We’re excited to work with game-changing partners to explore Web2 to Web3 convergence and optimize the promotion of healthier living across enterprise products and lifestyle behavior. We have identified a number of promising prospects in the space and received strong interest from founders, so we are excited to begin talking to startups in this burgeoning category.”

Yat Siu, co-founder and executive chairman of Animoca Brands, said: “Expanding into a space with new challenges and opportunities is appealing to us here at Animoca Brands, especially in such a vital industry. We’re proud to collaborate with Brinc once again and to have Prenetics and OliveX involved in the MedTech & Healthcare accelerator. We look forward to fostering next-gen Web3 applications and innovations in medical technology and healthcare through this new accelerator.”

Danny Yeung, co-founder and chief executive officer of Prenetics, said: “The global healthcare sector continues to present tremendous opportunities and areas for innovation, and we remain committed to our mission to decentralize health. We are excited to extend our joint venture with Animoca Brands to create a decentralized digital health data platform, and look forward to exploring new opportunities in the metaverse and Web3 through this new Brinc-run accelerator.”

Brinc is also pleased to include Web wellness pioneer OliveX in the accelerator. A digital health and fitness company delivering unique user experiences through fitness gamification, augmented reality, and play-to-earn experiences, OliveX’s successful track record in investing in, advising, and launching new experiences — such as Dustland Runner, the world’s first move-to-earn audio fitness adventure — will be valuable to the program.

Keith Rumjahn, founder and CEO of OliveX, said: “When Brinc asked me to come on board as a program mentor, my answer was an emphatic yes. Investing in emerging talent and ideas is one of OliveX’s core tenets as a Web3 business. Web3 grows and generates innovation by embracing new voices and new ideas and fostering their development from the earliest stages. I’m thrilled to be able to share the wisdom and experience I’ve gained in the past 15 years with the next generations of Web3 leaders.”

Brinc’s MedTech & Healthcare accelerator will focus on areas including but not limited to: women’s health, mental wellness and meditation, fitness (programs, metaverses, virtual and augmented reality, learn to earn), data privacy utilizing blockchain, digital healthcare, devices and wearables.

The 12-week program will address industry challenges faced by startups in this space such as token design, community building, and fundraising, and will be conducted in an online/offline hybrid model.
